How do you gain more clients as a hairstylist?
When I was still a hairdresser one thing I used to do was this.
Clients loved it and it made me the busiest and most expensive stylist for at least 100 miles.
After the haircut and just before I used to start the dry, I would do things to give the dry more show or drama. I know this is going to sound over the top but it worked for me.
I had been doing Kate’s hair for years and she loved me as her stylist.
One day after cutting her hair I told her to stand up and follow me onto the street. Now the street was always very busy. We had a 400 car park at the side of the sale plus a lot of popular shops. So there was always a ton of people walking up and down.
I took Kate outside, made her stand on the bench, and lean forward with her head upside down. I would then put my hands into her hair, add my salon products from the tray my junior would be holding and dry the hair sightly in the sunlight. I would pretend that this was adding texture, lift, and god knows what. Of course, it wasn’t it was all part of the show.
Once back into the salon I moved my salon chair dramatically to the side and asked the client again to lean forward, backward sideways, and anyways to create a show.
