Shake up your salon marketing strategies!
There is a popular saying amongst marketing experts: “The best salon marketing strategies are the ones you are not doing.” The take-home message? To take your salon to the market and bring more clients…and cash in, you need to regularly challenge your “by default” marketing habits.
So while you probably do some classic advertising like fliers, website, classified ads and all the regular, reassessing the way your marketing is run will help you beat salon recession faster.
See the ultimate creative (and profitable) marketing checklists.
checklist 1: Commitment to salon marketing
Fact: Mediocre marketing with commitment works better than marketing brilliant marketing plan without commitment. So, make sure you have a day set up at least once a week, when you spend time taking your salon to the marketplace.
checklist 2: Track and measure salon marketing efforts
If you don’t know how well your marketing performs how can you expect to grow? Establish a way to track and measure the effectiveness of your salon marketing, know where your most profitable strategy comes from. That way you will eliminate the waste of nonperforming newspaper and magazine ads.
checklist 3: Investment in salon marketing
Most salon clients would argue that marketing is an expense. But if you don’t recognize marketing as investment, you’ll have difficulty committing yourself to your salon marketing. What does £500 mean to you in marketing if you can increase your daily takings by £1000?
checklist 4: Amaze them
You are not there to cut hair, your role is to amaze customers. You are not doing a haircut, you are designing hair, making women drop dead gorgeous. This element of amazement in salon advertising will attract more attention than “we cut hair” ad.
checklist 5: Convenient
How easy it is for customers to say yes? When they call what do they hear? when the receptionist can’t answer the call overnight, can they leave a message? Can they book online? Are you there to respond to email enquiries? Is it cash only, or will you take all forms of payments?
Make sure you are making it easy to take bookings. It may sound not a big deal, but it is a big deal if you lose cash because you are not convenient.
I hope this helps 🙂
Yours in salon
