What are the new trends you can utilize as a salon owner to grow your sales? As post Pandemic has created new ways of shopping I’ve been doing some research to summarise the trends in order to help you adapt to success and increase your sales over the Christmas period and beyond.
Trend # 1 Browse, Discover, Buy
Is your salon website window shopping ready? Window shopping online has become more and more popular. One interesting trend is that your clients are no longer searching for large brands, they are happier researching lesser-known brands. For example, if you rely on promoting hair product brands online or in-store, traditionally well-known brands are no longer as attractive to your clients when they are deciding which product to buy. That is particularly helpful to know during Christmas retail sales period in salons, as you prepare to increase your sales through gift giving period.
In addition, there is an increase in specifics, for example, there is a 40% up in specific colour searches online. Are you detailing specific hair colours for your clients? Purple hair anyone?
Like brick-and-mortar stores, shoppers want to inspect what they are buying, therefore salon images, video tours of your salon, or salon products through shopping ads help when they provide an almost 360-degree look.
Searching for “Review” has become essential when you are trying to attract new salon clients. YouTube helps them to decide and Google search helps research and compare your hair salon to somebody else’s.
Trend # 2 More choice means fewer loyal clients and shoppers
These days it is easier to switch salon brands thanks to online shopping and the choices your salon customers have. Your clients are more and more willing to try new salon and hair beauty brands, even if you think your clients are super loyal to your salon brand. Are you insuring your brand can be attractive online? Of course, this trend goes beyond Christmas sales, so think carefully about how your salon presents itself on the online stage.
Trend # 3 The all-in-one shopping experience is the new standard
Pandemic online shopping changed shopping habits and how your salon clients behave. They are more willing to utilise Internet searches compared to other times.
Retailers, like your salon businesses, strive to improve the online experience and it is working, i.e beats in-store visits.
While your clients can not have their hair cut online, they are still searching online for the next hair salon before deciding where to go. And while they are in your brick-and-mortar shop, they tend to browse and shop online. That means just because you are promoting Aveda on the shelf, does not mean they will buy it from your shop. (Hands up if you’ve ever done something similar).
“Near me” increased by 950%! Your clients will be searching for “the salons near me”. Can they discover your salon near you?
Creating a worthy online window is essential over the Christmas promotion period. But it goes beyond the Christmas trend too. The fastest-growing brands work online and offline together.
Is your salon business ready to monetise on this growing trend?
