This is the buying season in your salon.
It probably feels like everything has changed for you and your salon. It has, and nothing right now will take it back to 2019 and before. That’s doesn’t mean you cant make amazing money – you can.
Don’t forget everyone wants their hair to be done. Nothing changes that. This is a period where people want to come in and have their hair done.
The changes are what is happening in the minds of certain sections of your clients. Some don’t care about what’s happened and want to carry on. Some are terrified but still want their haircut. Some couldn’t care less about masks and being protected by whatever. Some want the full protective everything. And you can’t change that.
This is a time where you must adapt and change accordingly.
There is nothing really all that new in changes to society. It isn’t the changes that cause us the problems it’s the reticence or inability to change that creates the problems.So what do we do in your salon?
This is the buying season.
This means your clients want to spend money. Money on their hair but money on products.
Now selling a ton of products is good but upselling salon services is even better. The extra cash made from hair services is huge in comparison to selling a product. But there are products out there you can make a killing from. A product like Olaplex. You pay £3 and you sell for £25. That is what you call making a killing.
So how do you make more money from clients that really want to spend? Easy. Sell up on your services.
If a client has booked a haircut can we persuade them their hair will look much better after a colour?
If they have booked a haircut can we persuade them to go for a restyle?
If they have booked for a haircut can we persuade them to simply have another added on service?
Clients want to spend but you have to help them to spend. Some will not ask for extra but want extra. Unless you make a suggestion to have extra they might not ask and that is Money lost.
And if you or your team are nervous about asking do this.
Create small posters for your salon with words like…‘Why not try a colour for Christmas.”New year new hair… ask for a restyle today.’ Something like that. This way you are placing a suggestion into the mind of your client. If you do this look what can happen.
Upsell 10 colours – An extra £100 each £1,000
Upsell 10 Olaplex – At £25 each and an extra £250
Upsell 10 restyles – An extra £15 each an extra £150
That’s is a lower estimate but it’s also an extra £1,400 this week.
And all you have to do is make the offer and carry out the service.Do not forget that this is a buying season, your clients want to feel good and spend.Help them to do just that and you will increase your salon turnover this week.By the way …I have done this in salons with my salon mentor clients and we have increased the salon turnover in a week by as much as £4,000 by simply asking the client.
The money is there for you. It’s buying season. All you have to do is ask your client. Trust me it works.
